Roadmap to STEM Initiative
The Roadmap to STEM Institute (RSI) is designed to give students in Grades 7-12, next generation STEM skills to prepare them to become STEM Ready and be able to enter into and succeed in STEM majors that can help them matriculate into the STEM workforce.
Beginning in the 7th Grade, students can register for RSI courses. RSI consists of three tracks:
Numeracy
Coding
Design
RIS Numeracy
Class Offered: September - May
Grades: 7th +
The RSI (Roadmap to STEM) Numeracy courses meet on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month. During these sessions, students collaborate with tutors to help with their online and in-class work. Students who register for the class will also be registered for an ALEKS online math course. Each student in the course also has access to tutors Monday - Thursday evening. Numeracy courses are taken in conjunction with student’s standard in-school math courses.
The Benefits of Enrolling in a Numeracy Course
Numeracy (Math) Proficiency has been identified as a precursor to students entering into STEM majors and professions.
