Scholars Plus

Scholars Plus is our initiative to increase the excitement and recognition of students who excel academically. Each semester we give special recognition to students who make the honor roll at their respective school. Similar to athletics, our research shows that the more we encourage and celebrate academic achievement, the more students and their families will strive to make academic excellence a priority.

Program Components

In-school Celebration

Students who make the honor roll will receive special in-school recognition and have a party dedicated to their success each quarter.

Parents to encouraged to participate in the scholars plus celebration

Honor Roll students also have their pictures dedicated on video boards in the school building.

Students have the opportunity to wear the “Honor Roll Belt” as a symbol of accomplishment

Students who make the honor roll twice receive a special tee shirt at the end of the year

High school students who make the honor roll will receive a special honors chord to be worn at graduation. The size of the final chord will represent the number of times the student has made the honor roll.

City-wide Celebration (potential locations, not confirmed)

Each quarter honor roll students will be celebrated throughout the city. All students who make the honor roll will have their achievement promoted in a digital press release that is shared with local media outlets.

Students who make the “A” honor roll receive a special invitation to participate in community activities, including sporting events and access to local attractions such as museums and the zoo.  These events will be free to the honorees.

STEMmys Scholars

Students who are performing well in STEM classes will also be eligible for the STEMmys Scholar of the month. Each month, one elementary and one high school student will be recognized as the STEMmys student of the month. The recipient of the award will receive a $100 gift card and be profiled on the Buzz, Cincinnati Herald and Voice of Your Customer.
